New Aida office for Robertson

The Aida real estate group has opened a new franchise in Robertson, the Boland town at the heart of a region known for its wine, spectacular scenery and relaxed lifestyle.

And, says franchisee Johan Gous, it has made a quick impact on the market, thanks to the wide recognition and appreciation of the Aida brand. "In spite of rising interest rates and the impact of the new National Credit Act there is still movement in this market and we have had a sound response from local property buyers and sellers. There are also signs that activity is set to pick up towards the end of the year."

Gous, who holds a degree in business management and has wide experience in the banking industry and bond origination, says Robertson has grown into one of the most popular Cape Wineland towns, with its Victorian buildings, jacaranda-lined streets and beautiful gardens.

It also has a number of new developments that offer solid value for money. Among these are The Roode Villas and De Groene Oewers, where stands of around 500sqm are selling well at prices between R260 000 and R280 000. Building costs for the area vary between R3500 and R4000/sqm, depending on finishes.

Aida Robertson is also marketing the Silverstrand Golf Estate development, which is designed to appeal not only to golfers at all levels, but also to anglers, watersport enthusiasts and birdwatchers.

The first 10 townhouses on the estate have been completed and are priced at R1,35m each, while the next phase of stands available are priced from R650 000 each. Still to be released are stands on the southern bank of the river running through the estate that will cost around R895 000 each, and riverbank townhouses at around R1,75m each.

Gous says prices for existing homes in Robertson proper start at about R650 000 for a three-bedroom unit, while average family homes sell from R750 000 up to R850 000.

Most transactions are taking place in the under-R1m price range but luxury homes, typically with four bedrooms, two garages and a swimming pool on stands of between 1000 and 1400sqm are selling for between R1,2m and R1,8m.

Homes in previously disadvantaged areas are available from as little as R150 000 while three-bedroom, one-bathroom units sell at prices ranging from R250 000 to R450 000.

The new office is situated at 12A Paul Kruger Street, the main route to the town center, and also covers the neighbouring towns of McGregor and Bonnievale..
