Wilderness hotel room on auction

Wilderness hotel room on auction

A room in the Protea Hotel Resort in the Wilderness is to be auctioned on Thursday 22 November.

Unit 171, Room 184 will go on auction at 15:00 at Aucor's offices in Cape Town - situated on 17 Dacres Avenue, Epping 2.

The room on offer is a double-bed hotel room, consisting of 23 sq m, covered by a main bedroom area, with an en-suite bathroom and an outside wooden-decked balcony. The auction is a public auction sale and has come about by means of bank repossession.

All bids will exclude VAT and upon sale, a spot deposit of 5% is required on the sale price, as well as the commission paid for the procurement of the deal, made out to the auctioneers.

The Wilderness Protea Hotel Resort is located along the famous garden-route. Furthermore, on offer are a set squash courts, bowls greens, tennis courts, three swimming pools, a bar, a restaurant and a well-sized conference facility.

Room 184 is one of a 155 rooms that make-up the hotel and the auction will see the best bid come away with a 30-day usage agreement during a calendar year. "The purchaser would be looking to use the hotel room during the 30 days they have allocated for their own personal use and hope that it performs well in the rental pool," says Simon Lloyd of Aucor's property division.

As an investment vehicle, Lloyd commented, "being a seasonal rental, historically this has not been good and investors who have units here have not seen a return on their money to date". - James Monteiro
