Developer Larry Silverstein is trying to find a buyer for the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church in Fells Point as he moves ahead with plans to build upscale townhomes on the 1.5-acre property.

The historic church, closed 10 years ago despite strong protest from Baltimore’s Polish community, is listed at $850,000. That’s less than the price of two of the 20 townhomes Silverstein’s Union Box Co. and partner Haven Homes plans to start building this fall.
Silverstein said the still shaky economy is forcing him to price the townhomes in the mid-$500,000 range. The homes, at Ann and Aliceanna streets, will sit two blocks from the Fells Point waterfront and feature two-car garages.
