SYDNEY is known for its absurdly expensive rent but this three-bedder is in a league of its own.

For the cost of a new car or an around-the-world trip you can rent the crème de la crème of Australian real estate, complete with uninterrupted beach views, designer furniture and oversized gourmet kitchen.

The house, available for short or long-term lease, in Sydney’s exclusive eastern suburbsis the most expensive rental property listed in Australia, at $17,500 a week.

Stay a month, or several as tenants have in the past, and it will set you back more than a year’s salary for the average Aussie.

Even for Watsons Bay - a suburb inhabited by the super-rich - the rate being asked for the property is staggering. It's the equivalent of $2500 a day and almost 10 times the area's median rent.
