December retail sales rise to hit four-year annual high

Shoppers braved icy weather and shrugged off the harshest recession in a generation to go on their biggest December spending spree in four years, the British Retail Consortium reports today.

Retail rents in England account for some of the highest property rentals in the world, but London’s Bond Street, home to the world’s glitziest brands, will defy the credit crunch and other retail streets in the country as it sets a record of £900 per square foot.

Retail vacancy rate for County Offaly is currently 27.1% compared with Ireland county average of 14.7%

Figures issued today by business information services company Experian shows that the retail vacancy rate for County Offaly is currently 27.1% which is 12.4% per cent higher than the all Ireland county average of 14.7%.
